From what age can a person consult an orthodontist?
At Dr. Fabrice Garnier's orthodontic clinic, we suggest a first screening visit around the age of 7. This is the same recommendation as the Canadian Association of Orthodontists. The first visit as a child will allow us to determine the best moment to begin an orthodontic correction according to the growth and eruption of the teeth. In many cases, early treatment will correct problems that could worsen over time and require more invasive treatment. For other conditions, it is preferable to wait until adolescence to maximize the effectiveness of the treatment. Follow-up visits will be suggested.
